Sandy Askey-Adams

A National award winning artist, Sandy was born in a small rural Pennsylvania town that fostered her love of nature. From an early age, drawing and painting were natural and essential forms of self-expression. The interpretation of nature and its many moods continue to be the focus of her work today. She is particularly passionate about the pastel media, although she is also experienced in oils and watercolors.

Sandy is a Juried Associate Member of the prestigious Pastel Society of America and a Signature Member of the Maryland Pastel Society. She is particularly passionate about the pastel media because of its pure, spontaneous, vibrant visual luminescence and permanence. Most recently, she was honored to have had three of her pastel paintings juried and selected for inclusion in the book, "Best of America, Pastel Artists, Vol ll". Her pastel paintings "After the Rain" and "Country Creek Reflections" were juried into this years National "Paint America Top 100" and "Second Top 100" National Exhibit. "After the Rain" will be part of a national tour throughout the U.S. throughout 2010.

Since returning to the pastel media in 2004, Sandy has been the recipient of over 27 awards for her pastels.
